Moving to BC

Transferring membership

You can become a member of BCAMFT only if you are already a member of AAMFT.  When you move to BC, please contact AAMFT to inform them of your address change.  They will switch you from your former membership list and add you to ours – this can sometimes take a couple of months. If you already have a listing with "TherapistLocater.net," you can change that yourself, right away.

Once you appear on our membership list, your information gets added to our roster and you will then have access to the Members Only section of our website.

Clinical members will also automatically become a member of the Registry of Marriage and Family Therapists in Canada (the Canadian Registry) –– some time may be required for the process to be completed. We encourage you to purchase a Canadian Registry membership sticker as it supports them financially – directions for this are on the Canadian Registry website: www.marriageandfamily.ca.

Setting up practice

It is quite easy to get your contact information included in our on-line Referral Directory. There is a one-time set-up fee of $25 and a renewal fee of $15 in subsequent years. You can list information for two addresses, add your email, connect with a professional website and have a personal page on our own website. To request a Directory application, write to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

How to connect with other MFTs

The BCAMFT web site is our main mechanism for staying connected and keeping informed, along with occasional mass emails from the Divisional President. The website provides announcements of upcoming organizational activity such as the annual general meeting, workshops and other events such as meetings of the Board of Directors. Please familiarize yourself with the web site and check back frequently.  You may contact any board member if you have a question.

Employment

Unfortunately, BCAMFT cannot assist in finding employment.  It is up to you to network and search out opportunities.  We do try to post job openings of interest to MFTs in the Members Only section of our web site.
